How much do ems scada engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 3, 2026, the average yearly pay for ems scada engineer in the United States is $100,471.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $78,000.00 and $121,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Ems SCADA engineers with extensive experience, specialized skills in industrial control systems, and certifications such as CISSP or PMP can reach or exceed a $300,000 annual salary, especially in high-demand industries like energy or utilities. Senior engineers working in management or consulting roles may also achieve this level of compensation.

What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of an EMS SCADA Engineer?

EMS SCADA Engineers are responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting energy management and SCADA systems that control utility operations. Their day often involves configuring system alarms, updating software, analyzing data for system optimization, and responding to technical incidents. They collaborate closely with other engineers, field technicians, and operations teams to ensure seamless power distribution and quick resolution of any network issues. The role may also include participating in system upgrades, testing new features, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This hands-on, dynamic environment offers opportunities to work on mission-critical infrastructure while developing advanced technical expertise.

What does an EMS SCADA Engineer do?

An EMS SCADA Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Energy Management System (EMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for power utilities. They ensure real-time monitoring and control of electrical grids, troubleshoot system issues, and enhance automation for efficient energy management. Their role involves configuring databases, integrating new technologies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards to maintain grid reliability and performance.

What engineers make $500,000 a year?

Ems SCADA engineers typically do not earn $500,000 annually; such high salaries are more common in executive, specialized consulting, or senior leadership roles within engineering fields. Top-tier engineers with extensive experience, advanced certifications, or leadership responsibilities in industries like oil and gas, aerospace, or technology may reach high six-figure or low seven-figure incomes, but $500,000 is rare for standard engineering positions.

Are SCADA engineers in demand?

SCADA engineers are in high demand due to the critical role they play in industrial automation, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Their expertise in control systems, programming, and cybersecurity makes them valuable as industries seek to modernize infrastructure and improve system reliability.

Is SCADA part of EMS?

In the context of an EMS SCADA engineer role, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems are integral to EMS (Energy Management System) operations, as they provide real-time monitoring and control of electrical grid assets. SCADA is typically embedded within EMS to facilitate automation, data collection, and system analysis for efficient grid management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Ems Scada Engineer position, and why are they important?

To excel as an EMS SCADA Engineer, you need a strong background in electrical engineering, control systems, and computer science, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Experience with SCADA platforms (such as GE, Siemens, or Schneider), EMS software, network protocols, and relevant certifications like ISA CAP or CCST is highly valuable. Effective problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills help in collaborating across departments and swiftly addressing system issues. These competencies are essential for ensuring reliable grid operations, optimizing system performance, and maintaining the integrity of critical infrastructure.
