Mid-Senior SCADA/EMS Operations Analyst (T&D and Substation Operations)
Austin, TX area - 4/10 Schedule & Relocation Assistance Available
A Transmission & Distribution Company with wide scale electrical utility infrastructure operations across Texas is going through a transformational growth phase that includes the addition of EMS/SCADA Operations Analyst. The role will work on a team tasked with the development and operations of EMS/SCADA systems for a new transmission control center as a first step in doubling the company's capital infrastructure in Texas.
It is a core hire for a rapidly growing business unit of the company that will help create, implement, and maintain Energy Management System (EMS) and SCADA applications. This role will be tasked with building a new EMS/SCADA operations system from the ground up including installation of software/hardware equipment, display, and control design. Following build out of the new system you will ensure 24/7 operations and maintenance of the EMS/SCADA system.

The scope of their operations includes transmission (t-line), regional control centers, and distribution systems with interconnects to various renewable energy technology platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Operations SCADA EMS Analyst / SCADA EMS Administrator acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for database modeling, EMS/SCADA system migration, and system interface development
  • The Operations SCADA EMS Analyst / SCADA EMS Administrator leads the OSI Monarch SCADA buildout, application development, and system training initiatives for the Transmission System Control Center Operations Team
  • The Operations SCADA EMS Analyst / SCADA EMS Administrator advises on SCADA/EMS communication protocols such as MODBUS, DNP and ICCP
  • The Operations SCADA EMS Analyst / SCADA EMS Administrator takes ownership of the SCADA point-to-point checkout process which may includes modification, updates, and configuration of protective relay setting in SEL RTAC / SEL AcSELerator
  • The Operations SCADA EMS Analyst / SCADA EMS Administrator supports IT Engineering initiatives around LAN/WAN, TCP/IP communication, and SCADA communication paths

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • SCADA EMS experience working with the OSI SCADA platforms to support electrical utility operations & substation/transmission communication systems
  • Familiarity with GE AEMS Reliance, OSI Monarch, or related EMS/SCADA platforms
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, configure, and update EMS/SCADA software/hardware
  • Ability to perform display development/migration, database modeling in SQL (or similar), and point to point checkouts
  • Working knowledge of SCADA RTU relay configuration, maintenance, or commissioning ofhigh voltage systems
  • Experience interfacing with SCADA, RTU, SEL AcSELerator, SEL RTAC, Line Communication, & Line Relaying Systems
  • Understanding of NERC and ERCOT reliability standards; NERC System Operator Certification a HUGE PLUS
  • Candidates with previous work experience in the following roles would be ideal: SCADATechnician, SCADA Analyst, SCADA Engineer, SCADA Specialist, P&C Communication Specialist, SCADA Relay Technician, SCADA Protection & Controls Technician, EMMS Admin, EMS Administrator, EMS Operational Analyst
