Job description

9-Month Contract-to-Hire (W-2) with the goal of converting to permanent employment. Per diem available for eligible candidates.


Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following BCSP certification/experience requirements:

  • CSP: 4+ years of relevant construction safety and health experience
  • ASP, GSP, or SMS: 6+ years of relevant experience
  • CHST or OHST: 8+ years of relevant experience


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, client, and company standards.
  • Identify pre-construction hazards and develop safety plans for high-risk or complex work.
  • Oversee JSA, traffic control/MOT, excavation, trenching, and shoring safety.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with company and OSHA requirements.
  • Lead incident response, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and conduct site-specific drills.
  • Deliver safety training, including New Hire Orientation, Toolbox Talks, OSHA 10/30, and Competent Person training.
  • Serve as a primary contact for OSHA inspections, insurance representatives, and client safety teams.
  • Oversee environmental safety requirements, including SWPPP, dust mitigation, and spill response.
  • Track and report safety KPIs, including TRIR, DART, and EMR.
  • Partner with fleet teams to ensure equipment, vehicles, and operators meet safety requirements.
  • Support construction and traffic-control activities as needed for safe, timely project completion.


Certifications & Requirements

  • OSHA 500 completed within the past 24 months and maintained throughout the project.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification from Red Cross or approved equivalent.
  • Completion of FMCSA-compliant 2-hour Drug & Alcohol Reasonable Suspicion Supervisor Training.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience with directional drilling (HDD), fiber optic installation, and associated safety hazards.
  • Experience with safety management software such as SafetyCulture/iAuditor and Google Suite.
