Job Title: Azure Data Architect – Healthcare client exp is must
Location: Remote
 

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect with strong healthcare domain expertise to lead the design and implementation of modern data platforms on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will own the end-to-end architecture across data ingestion, storage, modeling, governance, and analytics, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design end-to-end Azure data platforms (data lake, data warehouse, analytics, reporting) for healthcare use cases.

  • Define and implement data ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, and related services.

  • Design scalable and secure data models for clinical, claims, EMR/EHR, healthcare operations, and financial datasets.

  • Establish data standards, best practices, and patterns for data integration, quality, MDM, and governance.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, data engineers, BI developers, and SMEs to translate requirements into technical solutions.

  • Optimize performance and cost of Azure data solutions (partitioning, indexing, storage tiers, caching, etc.).

  • Ensure solutions adhere to HIPAA, PHI/PII protection, security, and compliance requirements.

  • Create architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and reference implementations.

  • Guide and mentor data engineering teams on Azure tools, frameworks, and best practices.

  • Participate in code reviews, solution reviews, and architecture governance processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of overall experience in data engineering / data architecture.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Architect on Microsoft Azure.

  • Strong expertise with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.

  • Solid understanding of modern data architectures: data lakehouse, star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling, ELT/ETL patterns.

  • Proven experience working with healthcare data: EMR/EHR, HL7, FHIR, claims, eligibility, encounters, provider/payer data, etc.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Python or Scala for data engineering workloads.

  • Experience implementing security, data masking, role-based access, and compliance controls for PHI/PII on Azure.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform is a plus).

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
