Job description

Position Description:


The candidate must display the highest ethical standards and a commitment to the overall success of Valparaiso Athletics and possess outstanding leadership, management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively and relate to a diverse group of coaches, faculty, staff, and student-athletes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track weekly academic progress through weekly meetings
  • Provide a weekly report to all head coaches relative to academic performance; evaluation of performance of at-risk student-athletes and weekly study hall and tutoring hours
  • Track continuing and transfer eligibility and maintain designated information in APP and APR purposes
  • Assist student-athletes in obtaining and utilizing campus resources
  • Communicate with campus and faculty advisors regarding student-athlete registration

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree required with preferred degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience working with Division I student-athletes

Other Qualifications:

  • A master's degree and 2 years of experience working in academic support services for student-athletes is preferred.
