Staff Relations Manager

In this vital role you willbe responsible forproviding expert employee relations (ER) guidance and support to managers and staffin Amgen's Operations function.This position islocatedon site at one of Amgen's manufacturing sites in Rhode Island,Cambridge,North Carolinaand/or Ohio.The successful candidate is expected toworka hybrid schedule,which includesaregular on-sitepresenceaminimumof3 daysper week.

Staff Relations is a specialized Human Resources function that partners closely with regional HR Leaders, Business Managers, Compliance, Legal, other HR Centers of Excellence and team members to protect Amgen values, investigate potential violations of HR policies, provide practical advice and guidance on coaching staff and managers, and advise on performance and behaviors management, discipline, involuntary terminations, and workplace accommodations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical and legallyappropriateemployeerelations guidance on performance management, disciplinary action, and workplaceconflictsto HR partners and business leaders. Participate in termination discussions and corrective actions with staff and leaders as needed

  • Conduct and document thorough, impartial, andtimelyHR investigations,maintainingconfidentiality and objectivity.Determinefindings offactsandanyviolationsofAmgenpoliciesand prepare clear, concise investigation summaries and supporting documentation to support these findings

  • Partner with the occupational health,benefits,staff and managers to analyze and respond toreasonable accommodationrequests,leavesof absence,andreturn to work following them

  • Partner with local HR Business Partners andthebroaderStaff Relations team to ensure nuanced and compliant ER practices

  • Track and update cases in the company's case management system

  • Assist theOperationsStaff Relations Lead in implementing process improvements, training, and ER best practices

  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Learning & Development teams to deliver training on HR policies, investigations, andprofessionalworkplace behaviors

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and2years of Staff Relations experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and4years of Staff Relations experience

OR

Associate's degree and 8 years of Staff Relations experience

OR

High School diploma/GED and 10 years of Staff Relations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to Work on site at one of Amgen's manufacturing facilities in Rhode Island, Cambridge, North Carolina and/or Ohio.

  • Strong Human Resources background with 4+ years of experience in Employee Relations

  • Experience advising on performance management, discipline, and involuntary terminations of employment

  • Knowledge and experience of employment laws and ER practices

  • Experience conducting internal HR investigations

  • Ability to learn and fairly apply company policy, investigation procedures, and regulatory guidelines within scope of duties

  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling complex and confidential matters.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, Teams, Workday, andERcase management systems.

  • Flexible working hours due to needs of manufacturing shifts.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
