Position Overview

The Employee Engagement and Internal Communications Intern will support the Princeton team by assisting with the development and execution of internal communication strategies, aiming to foster engagement and alignment within the company. This role involves assisting with content creation, channel management, and event planning, while also gaining hands-on experience in internal communications best practices. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly organized, and passionate about creating engaging employee experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation and Management: Assist in drafting and editing internal communication materials like newsletters, emails, intranet updates, and social media posts, ensuring clear and engaging messaging.
  • Channel Management: Support the maintenance and updating of internal communication platforms, such as the intranet, company blog, and social media accounts, ensuring information is accurate and readily accessible.
  • Employee Engagement: Assist in planning and executing employee engagement activities and events, including surveys, feedback sessions, and recognition programs.
  • Event Support: Provide logistical support for our NJ company events, including event planning, event setup and breakdown, and attendee management.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on internal communication best practices, competitor strategies, and industry trends, to inform communication strategies and improve effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
  • On-the-Job Training: Engage in ongoing learning and development through mentorship and training programs to gain valuable skills and knowledge in employee engagement and internal communications. Access to executive mentorship, professional development, and networking.
  • Administrative Tasks: Provide support via data entry, scheduling, maintaining organized digital files, and taking meeting notes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Academic Status: Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program majoring in Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to learn additional comms software - SharePoint skills and experience with Staffbase is a PLUS.
  • Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, close attention to detail, and a high desire to learn.
  • Self-Motivation & Behaviors:
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Creative thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Enthusiasm for internal communications and employee engagement.
