Job description

The Energy Assistance Processor reviews and processes Energy Assistance applications, ensuring applications are complete, accurate, and processed in accordance with program requirements. This position maintains accurate participant and application information in eHEAT, Laserfiche, and other required program systems while providing application assistance and customer service to participants. The position also provides administrative and program support, including processing program correspondence, supporting outreach activities, and assisting with A16 activities and referrals. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining participant confidentiality. (Full Position Description will be shared with applicants selected for in-person interviews; to request full description, call 507-316-0610.)

EAP is a seasonal program with applications processed from approximately September through May each year. Various factors will affect the actual end date, but position is expected to last no more than 6 months. Successful EAP Specialists may be asked to return for the following EAP season.

This temporary full-time position (40 hours per week) is Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Starting pay is $19.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in customer service or related field.
  • Ability to pass a required background study, as defined by the position.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when processing time-sensitive information and maintaining participant records.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to ask questions, seek clarification, and communicate clearly with participants, vendors, contractors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive participant information in accordance with agency policies and applicable privacy requirements.
  • Experience with Laserfiche, Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), and Adobe, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and effectively use new software and program systems.
  • Ability to learn and accurately use eHEAT and other required Energy Assistance Program systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English, especially Spanish or Somali
