Job description

In this role, you'll support the performance, reliability, and security of the Ellucian Colleague ERP system, helping ensure institutional operations are supported by stable, well-maintained, and optimized technology environments.
This role exists to administer, maintain, and optimize the Ellucian Colleague ERP system by overseeing system performance, upgrades, integrations, infrastructure support, and continuous improvement across development, test, and production environments.
What You'll Do:
System Administration & Maintenance
  • Perform routine database and file maintenance to ensure system performance, stability, and uptime.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Colleague software releases across development, test, and production environments.
  • Manage environment cloning and refresh processes to support testing, training, and development activities.
  • Administer and maintain supporting systems including User Interface, Self-Service, Payment Gateway, and Colleague APIs.
  • Configure and optimize Datatel Messaging Interface (DMI) listeners and related services.
  • Infrastructure & Performance Optimization
  • Perform upgrades and maintenance for Unidata and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Tune performance for Self-Service, Web UI, and reporting tools such as Informer.
  • Oversee operating system updates, patching, and system hardening practices.

Integration & Development Support
  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot integrations, including Ellucian Ethos.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Colleague and third-party systems.
  • Create and manage Ellucian Experience components, including tiles and interfaces using React JS, CSS, and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers and functional teams to support enhancements, customizations, and data workflows.
  • Security, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Manage LDAP integrations, certificates, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Support audit activities, such as SOC reports and internal audits, and remediate identified risks.
  • Monitor for and respond to system vulnerabilities and security incidents in coordination with cybersecurity teams.
  • Adhere to the appropriate information security policies based on the sensitivity of company data and report any security related issues.

Support & Collaboration
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for Colleague modules, integrations, and system issues.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement system improvements.
  • Communicate system changes, outages, and updates to stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and change history.
  • Participate in regular status meetings and provide system health, performance, and capacity reports.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical runbooks.

What You'll Bring: Experience & Skills
  • Strong experience with Ellucian Colleague system administration.
  • Proficiency in Unidata, Envision, Colleague Studio, and WebAPI.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Experience with system performance tuning and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Ethos, DMI, and infrastructure-level integrations.
  • Ability to manage and maintain customizations and integrations.
  • Front-end development skills, including React JS and CSS, are preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Requirements
Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Work Environment & Schedule:
Collegis employs team members in a variety of locations across the country, supporting a flexible and distributed workforce. Depending on candidate location, this position may be structured as either remote or hybrid. Candidates located within 60 miles of our Oak Brook, IL office or a partner school will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule, working onsite 2-3 days per week to support collaboration and team engagement, while those outside this radius may work fully remotely. Specific expectations based on location will be discussed during the interview process.
