The Elevator Operator is a vital part of our team, responsible for providing outstanding customer service while assisting with the efficient receiving, storing, and shipping of grain. In addition, this role involves ensuring trucks are thoroughly cleaned and performing elevator maintenance as qualified. Key responsibilities also include promoting a positive and collaborative work environment by fostering strong communication, teamwork, and shared services. Above all, the Elevator Operator upholds safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive workplace for all.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Greets customers with a positive, courteous attitude, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience. Provides exceptional service by promptly addressing customer inquiries, questions, and concerns in a respectful and efficient manner. Assists in resolving customer issues and problems quickly and effectively.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, ensuring all processes are carried out accurately. Inspects grain for insects, moisture, and foreign materials during unloading to maintain quality. Reads thermometers to check grain temperatures at various levels within storage tanks, ensuring timely and precise monitoring.
  • Operates conveyors, selects flow pipes, sets trippers, and chooses storage tanks to efficiently move grain into storage or for the loading department. Performs routine maintenance and repairs on all elevator equipment to ensure smooth operations. Fills anhydrous ammonia tanks as needed.
  • Maintains the facility's cleanliness at all times, ensuring safety standards are met. Must be flexible, working a variable schedule during harvest, including different shifts, days of the week, and overtime as necessary. Completes all paperwork accurately and on time, adhering to required guidelines.
  • Effectively communicates with customers, employees, and management both verbally and in writing. Promotes a culture of safety, consistently following safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. Complies with all state and federal laws, codes, and regulations. Maintains a clean, professional appearance and demonstrates prompt, regular attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required to contribute to the team’s success.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an elevator operator or in a similar role preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to operate elevator controls and emergency systems effectively
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and assist passengers as required
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to elevator operation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
