H.O.P.E. (Home of Potential & Excellence) is seeking to add a part-time tutor to our team. Under the guidance of the Site Director, the tutor is responsible for planning and implementing activities and executing daily lesson plans for the H.O.P.E after-school sites. The Associate will work with other site team members to foster children's social, physical, and academic growth.

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic tutors to join our team as tutors for elementary school-aged students. As a tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic growth by providing individualized instruction and guidance. This position offers a flexible schedule, making it an ideal opportunity for college students seeking part-time employment.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions with elementary school-aged students.
  • Assess students' academic strengths and weaknesses to develop customized learning plans.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons in accordance with students' individual needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Teach and reinforce fundamental skills in subjects such as Literacy and Math.
  • Utilize and adapt various instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Identify and address learning gaps or challenges that students may be facing.
  • Assist students with homework assignments, projects, and test preparation.
  • Help students develop effective study skills, organizational techniques, and time management strategies.
  • Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment to enhance students' confidence and motivation.
  • Utilize educational resources, materials, and technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders regarding progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student attendance, and academic progress.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Proficiency in core subjects, including Literacy and Math
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students and create a positive learning environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Passion for working with children and helping them achieve academic success.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Currently enrolled as a college student pursuing a degree in Education, a related field, or possessing relevant experience preferred not required
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience is a plus but not required.
