Position Summary
REACH Academy Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly effective 5th Grade Math Teacherto join our instructional team.
The 5th Grade Math Teacher will be responsible for providing rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned mathematics instruction while creating a classroom environment where students feel challenged, supported, and capable of success.
The ideal candidate is a teacher who can make mathematics meaningful and accessible to students, build strong relationships, maintain high expectations, and use data to continuously improve instruction. This individual will work closely with colleagues, instructional leaders, intervention staff, and families to ensure students develop strong mathematical foundations and are prepared for continued academic success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The 5th Grade Math Teacher will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous, and standards-aligned mathematics instruction.
  • Develop lessons that promote mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding.
  • Teach and reinforce foundational mathematical skills while preparing students for the increasing rigor of middle school mathematics.
  • Utilize whole-group, small-group, partner, and differentiated instructional strategies to meet student needs.
  • Create meaningful opportunities for students to explain their mathematical thinking and apply skills to real-world problems.
  • Utilize educational technology and research-based instructional practices to enhance student learning.
  • Administer and analyze formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Use student achievement data to adjust instruction, provide targeted intervention, and differentiate learning experiences.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, structured, and academically focused classroom environment.
  • Implement school-wide expectations, routines, and behavior management systems consistently.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, assessments, lesson plans, and parent communications.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student academic progress, behavior, and areas for growth.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, report card conferences, and family engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers, instructional coaches, intervention staff, special education staff, and school leadership.
  • Participate actively in professional development, coaching cycles, grade-level meetings, curriculum planning, and other school initiatives.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and incorporate feedback from administrators and instructional coaches.
  • Provide appropriate academic interventions and enrichment opportunities based on student needs.
  • Support a positive classroom and school culture that encourages students to take ownership of their learning.
  • Serve as a positive role model and advocate for student success.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Hold a valid New York State Teaching Certification in Elementary Education 1-6 or Mathematics or a related content area; or
  • Be actively working toward New York State certification; or
  • Be eligible for New York State certification through reciprocity.
Additional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of student achievement and instructional effectiveness preferred.
  • Experience teaching elementary or middle school mathematics preferred.
  • Strong understanding of standards-based mathematics instruction.
  • Commitment to high expectations, accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Alignment with the mission, values, and educational philosophy of REACH Academy Charter School.
  • Ability to meet all applicable state and federal requirements for employment in a public charter school.
Salary
REACH Academy Charter School offers a competitive salary based on education, certification status, and years of relevant teaching experience.
Current Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,830 based on teaching experience
Placement on the salary schedule is determined based on applicable education, certification, and relevant prior experience in accordance with REACH Academy Charter School's salary schedule.
