Job description

Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, passionate District Math Coach who is committed to building a love of numeracy and mathematical thinking in all students. As a District Math Coach, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with educators to deepen the knowledge, skill, and ability to refine their instructional practices. 

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the District Math Coordinator and Administrators to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. This role encompasses both coaching teachers and students.  This is to fill an anticipated vacancy beginning in the 2026 - 2027 school year.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and excellence in teaching numeracy skills
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
  • Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
  • Successful elementary teaching and/or math coaching experience preferred
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in school-wide efforts to improve instruction to assist students in acquiring numeracy skills
  • Collaborate with teachers to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in numeracy instruction by embracing a growth mindset
  • Examine both formative and summative data with teachers for the purpose of planning effective instruction
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders
  • Facilitate professional learning
  • Implement current theory, research and best practices in mathematics and numeracy development by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • CT elementary teaching certification

Pay and Benefits: 

  • Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
