JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Teaching Assistant (Multiple positions)
POSITIONS:
- Secondary
- Elementary
The Teaching Assistant provides a range of support to students which includes providing direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Administrator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold valid New York State School certificate as a Teaching Assistant
- Flexibility to meet the needs of a range of student learners
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff
- Strong communication skills
- Proven success working with students
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Willingness to work as a member of a team and ability to support District goals and direction.
- Proven success in working with groups to problem-solve
- Ability to follow directives (oral, written, electronic)
- Operate in a respectful, responsible manner
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with students in groups or individually.
- Gathers pertinent student data and provides information to school personnel as requested concerning students.
- Collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, school psychologist, social workers, and related service providers regarding students.
- Participates in planning and providing direction instruction for students under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Gathers pertinent student data as requested.
- Provides general classroom support.
- Attends meetings as needed.
- Follows students plans.
- May perform student supervisory responsibilities as needed.
- May be assigned other related Teaching Assistant level responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The position of Teaching Assistant is a ten-month position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association.
EVALUATION:
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator.
SALARY:
Minimum starting salary $29,600 (negotiable based on experience)
