Job description

Product Lead - Element AI
Prime Matter Labs | New York City, Hybrid | Full-time
About Prime Matter Labs
Prime Matter Labs is an established, profitable personal care and beauty contract manufacturer, not a pre-revenue startup betting on AI. We're B2B, so we can't name names, but the products we make show up on the shelves, and in the feeds, of some of the fastest-growing, most talked-about beauty brands on the market today.
We're already putting AI directly into the hands of our own experts through Element AI, our proprietary platform that serves as the backbone connecting every employee and customer interaction in real time, and we're hiring to accelerate that further, not to start it from scratch.
About the role
We need a Product Lead ready to own Element AI immediately, not ease into it over a quarter. Your first priority is Element AI: taking direct product ownership of it and working in close daily partnership with engineering on what ships next. From there, you'll map how work happens across the rest of the business, from formulation to customer service, and turn the biggest opportunities into specs engineering can build against.
This is a senior individual-contributor role with broad ownership, not a people-management position. You won't be doing this in a vacuum: the infrastructure and the people to move fast are already here.
You'll report to the CTO, with direct, unfiltered input into product strategy and no layers of process between you and the decision-maker, and you'll partner closely with design and engineering, whichever side of that partnership your own background doesn't already cover.
What you'll do

  • Own product direction for Element AI, working daily with engineering on what ships next
  • Map workflows across the business and prioritize where technology creates the most value, fastest
  • Turn priorities into clear, buildable specs for engineering
  • Partner end to end with design and engineering counterparts, from problem to shipped experience
  • Work directly with subject-matter experts across the business who are already building with AI
What you'll bring
  • 6+ years of product management experience, including senior ownership of a product end to end
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-functional problems into clear priorities fast
  • Comfort in a small, high-autonomy team, shaping process as much as following it
  • Hands-on fluency with modern AI tools and real judgment about where technology creates value
  • Strong written communication; specs and business cases are core outputs of this role
Nice to have
  • Experience at a high-growth startup, Big Tech company, or top-tier consulting firm
  • Deep background in either product design (end-to-end design ownership, a strong point of view on design systems) or engineering (hands-on technical depth, comfortable partnering directly with a platform engineering team)
  • Experience in manufacturing, CPG, personal care/beauty, or another regulated production environment
  • Familiarity with quality systems (GMP, batch documentation, change control) or ERP-adjacent workflows
  • Experience with dense, workflow-heavy systems: ERPs, complex B2B platforms, multi-sided marketplaces
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering on AI-assisted development
The team
You'll report to the CTO and work in close daily partnership with our engineering and design team and internal subject-matter experts already building with AI.
New York City, Hybrid • $150,000-$300,000 base • Full-time
Final compensation is based on experience and scope.
