about the position...
The Senior Machinist at Power Design is a unique opportunity to operate a CNC Fiber Laser, Press Brake, Iron Worker, Laser Welder, Paint Booth and Oven to cut, bend, form metal needed to fabricate electrical switchboards and junction boxes. They will also perform a variety of sub-assembly operations necessary to put machined components into final products, supervise machinists and assistants and setup and oversee a Preventative Maintenance program of equipment.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on laser machines, press brakes, welding or other metal machining equipment.
  • Experience operating a press brake machine used to bend and form steel required for end product
  • Piranha Press Break Experience preferred but not required
  • Laser Operation experience: operating the CNC 12KW Fiber Laser machine to cut sheet metal and copper required for product (Piranha Laser Experience preferred but not required)
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and bill of materials
  • Basic computer skills
  • Prep work required from the project drawings, assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, parts lists.
  • Gather parts, sub-assemblies from templates, standardized drawings, or specific project drawings
  • Assemble the components according to the templates, specified measurements or specific drawings
  • Examine connections for correct fit, fasten and assemble components into the finished product.
  • Document all activities by completing production and quality forms
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Lead the team and assist in training others in performance of basic assembly tasks and operations of equipment.
  • Inspect all work and ensure it meets Quality Control Standards before progressing it on to the next operation.
  • Assist Plant Manager with scheduling and layout of work required to meet project deadlines.
  • Assist plant manager with inventory control

  • Experience with Electrical Equipment Fabrication
  • Ability to physically perform the essential functions of the job
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes, UL specifications and other construction safety requirements
  • Demonstrate and uphold all of Power Design's core values, which include integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation and growth
  • Preferred Electrical Switchboard fabrication experience
  • Experience with Delem DA66T Graphical CNC Control preferred
  • Experience with CypCut, Hypertherm ProNest LT software preferred
