Electrical Wiring Technician
Location: Sumter, SC
Job Type: Hourly/Non-Exempt

The Wiring Technician is responsible for ensuring proper wiring and installation of electrical components inside enclosures. This position plays a key role in the production pipeline by adding and connecting all the essential pieces inside of an enclosure in order for the unit to function as intended. Other responsibilities of a Wiring Technician include reading and adhering to wiring diagrams and schematics, ensuring all power tools and equipment are properly cared for, and properly handling wire while cutting, soldering, crimping, or adding wire markers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams or wire lists and use to neatly wire various panels, controllers and structures.
  • Ability to understand differences in wire gauge, type, etc.
  • Square, align, and assemble bases, electrical cabinets, or equipment structural components, on the floor and table.
  • Attach breakers, relays, contactors, bus bars, transformers, insulators, meters, plugging devices, and fuse blocks to mounting holes with bolts and screws.
  • Cut, strip, bend, and form wire cable, conduit, pipe, and tubing used to connect circuit and subassemblies.
  • Connect color-coded wires, using mirrors in compact areas.
  • Solder connections and crimp connectors to wire ends.
  • Lay out diagrams for electrical installations according to wiring specifications.
  • Detail oriented to ensure that wire harnesses are clean and properly secured and that wire is not damaged during installation.
  • Identify, use, and care for all electric and air-powered tools.
  • Operate wire marker and engraving equipment.
  • Operate continuity testing equipment.
  • Test and adjust electrical assemblies.
  • Perform all 3rd class electrical assembly functions.
  • Ability to work with a team on complex, integrated wiring tasks to ensure clean and efficient wiring.
  • Ability to complete a wiring task within a required time period.

Required Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • US. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electrical experience
  • Assembly experience
  • Mechanical Experience

Essential Physical Job Functions:
  • Able to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb ladders or step stools to access material when needed
  • Capable of handling repetitive motions such as grasping, pulling, and lifting
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate equipment and perform job duties
