Pay: $75,000-$90,000/year + 6% bonus

Shift: Days | 6:00 AM-4:00 PM

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead the Maintenance Department in a USDA-regulated meat processing facility. This position oversees maintenance employees and supports the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of production equipment, ammonia refrigeration, utilities, and facility systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong ammonia refrigeration experience, industrial maintenance knowledge, and hands-on leadership experience.


Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance employees and daily maintenance activities
  • Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime
  • Oversee maintenance of production equipment, buildings, grounds, utilities, and processing areas
  • Support electrical maintenance involving motor controls, high- and low-voltage wiring, and PLC-supported systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems in accordance with PSM and RMP requirements
  • Ensure required PSM documentation, inspections, and training are completed
  • Support HACCP, CCP, SSOP, USDA, FSIS, OSHA, EPA, and food safety requirements
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed in a sanitary manner that prevents product contamination
  • Participate in USDA inspections, internal audits, third-party audits, and safety investigations
  • Enforce lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, fall protection, PPE, and other safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, inspections, and inventory through the ERP system
  • Manage tools, spare parts, equipment, and maintenance supplies
  • Assist with contractor and vendor oversight, including permits, credentials, work scope, performance, and compliance
  • Support equipment installations, equipment moves, and special maintenance projects
  • Participate in emergency response activities involving ammonia and facility utilities
  • Remain available for emergency maintenance call-ins as required


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade schooling preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in an industrial or meat processing maintenance environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating ammonia refrigeration systems
  • 2+ years of Lead Technician experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and PLC-supported equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, USDA, and PSM regulatory requirements
  • Experience in a USDA-regulated meat or food processing facility strongly preferred
  • RETA Class A Operator certification required or ability to obtain the certification within one year of hire
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and emergency call-ins
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in cold, noisy, and hazardous environments, including freezer areas and engine rooms
