Job Description

This role focuses on electrical maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machines and industrial automation equipment in a modern manufacturing environment. You will support a wide range of CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, robotics, and material-handling systems, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The position requires strong hands-on electrical skills, the ability to work independently on complex CNC and PLC systems, and confidence in using diagnostic tools and software to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machines, including CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC machining centers, and related automation equipment.
  • Perform electrical maintenance on a wide range of OEM machine brands, including CNC machine tools, robotics, P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, large part washers, and ABB robots.
  • Troubleshoot and repair CNC and PLC equipment with controllers from brands such as Fanuc, Siemens, Modicon, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, and similar control platforms.
  • Identify and resolve issues with AC and DC analog and digital drives, sensors, cables, wiring, encoders, and 480V electrical systems.
  • Use a laptop to connect to machines, go online with PLCs, diagnose faults, and edit ladder logic programs as needed to correct control issues.
  • Troubleshoot PLC control systems, including HMI-based diagnostics, and make program alterations through HMI interfaces when required.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to perform accurate and safe repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair relay logic and control circuits used in industrial automation and machine tools.
  • Utilize knowledge of control systems, HMI, PLC robotics, PLC control, and glass scale linear encoders to maintain equipment accuracy and reliability.
  • Prioritize machinery repairs based on the value stream and criticality of the equipment to production.
  • Use the maintenance management system (MMS) to receive and manage work orders and plan daily maintenance activities.
  • Log all maintenance work performed using a company-provided computer or tablet, ensuring accurate documentation of repairs, parts used, and downtime.
  • Perform electrical machine repair independently, including complex troubleshooting without constant supervision.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and recommending preventive maintenance or design improvements.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to minimize machine downtime and support safe operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working on high-voltage systems, machinery, and automated equipment.

Work Environment

The position is based in a manufacturing facility with a machine shop production environment that is climate controlled and very clean, providing a comfortable and professional workspace. You will work around CNC machines, robotics, cranes, conveyors, furnaces, and other industrial equipment, using laptops, HMIs, and maintenance tools to perform diagnostics and repairs. All roles are off-shift, with schedules available on 2nd shift (approximately 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (approximately 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.), as well as an AWS (Alternative Work Schedule) option consisting of 12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the opportunity to pick up an additional day during the week to reach 40 hours. During the first 2–4 weeks, you can expect to work 40 hours per week on day shift for training before transitioning to your assigned off-shift schedule. Candidates must remain open to both 2nd and 3rd shifts, as final shift assignment occurs after the training period.
