Job description

Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer (I&E Reliability Engineer) – Mechanical Reliability Engineer role at Chemours' Titanium Technologies facility in New Johnsonville, Tennessee. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide E&I engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
  • Develop knowledge in area‑specific equipment to become a subject matter expert for the review and preparation of maintenance work procedures and skills development/training.
  • Initiate management of change documents to improve the safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost of the production area.
  • Provide technical assistance to develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance, Reliability, and PPM programs for the unit.
  • Provide technical expertise for all I&E up to 480 V:
    • Instruments – level, flow, pressure (sensors and valves) – function/operation/reliability support
    • Analyzers (process or ambient air) – function/operation/reliability support
    • Basic Electric (120 VAC to 480 V) – wiring, power panels, heat trace – function/operation/reliability support
    • Motors, starters (MCC) and VFD – up to 480 V – function/operation/reliability support
    • Burner – function/operation/reliability support
  • MOC and capital project support of I&E scope – approver for area MOC with I&E scope <480 V.
  • Ensure area electrical classification and electrical safety practices are observed in the area assigned.
  • Establish guidance of technician laptops for interfacing with I&E technology.
  • Participate in process hazards analyses and scope development for capital projects.
  • Lead area root‑cause failure analysis teams, kaizen events, and problem‑solving sessions.
  • Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and equipment specifications.
  • Periodically review preventive maintenance plans and procedures to assure optimum process and frequency of performance.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and designs and exercise effective judgment around functionality, cost, and timing.
  • Network with site reliability engineers and technicians to support improvement initiatives.
  • Provide shift/weekend coverage for start‑ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, or other non‑routine needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of industrial/manufacturing work experience or Military Equivalent Experience (including co‑op or internship experience).
  • Working knowledge of at least two of the following:
    • Instruments (level, flow, pressure)
    • Analyzers
    • Basic Electric 120 VAC – 480 V wiring, power panels, heat trace
    • Motors, starters (MCC), VFD
    • Control valves (if applicable)
  • High degree of personal initiative and flexibility to move projects forward safely and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems – making data‑based decisions.
  • Prioritization and management of short‑duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
  • Clear communication of technical ideas with a diverse team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence leadership, peers, and technicians; hands‑on approach with operators and technicians to drive change and get results.
  • Proficiency in typical business software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (steel toes, hard hat, eye protection, respirators).
  • Candidates must be able to perform all duties listed with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with field personnel in operations troubleshooting activities.
  • Strong background in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) background.
  • Experience with Probability of Failure (PFD) analysis on Safety Interlock systems.
  • Experience with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (NEC, ISA, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and best practices/programs in engineered solutions.
  • Experience with PLC systems.
  • Demonstrated work experience in power systems analysis and applications.
  • Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and automated equipment, and the maintenance programs associated with them.
  • Working knowledge of Systems Applications and Products (SAP).

  • Pay Range (in local currency): $93,184.00 – $145,600.00
