Position Overview
The Generator Mechanic / Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing residential standby generators and automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills along with the ability to deliver excellent customer service while working in residential environments.
This position combines field service work, equipment diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and electrical troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
  • Travel to residential job sites using a company-provided service vehicle
  • Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on whole-home standby generators
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, including automatic transfer switches (ATS)
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding services performed and repair recommendations
  • Document service work and maintenance reports in company service software
  • Follow safety procedures when working around electrical systems and equipment
  • Assist with emergency service calls during storms or power outages when required
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle in good working condition

What We're Looking For
  • 1+ years of experience in generator repair, small engine repair, electrical troubleshooting, or mechanical service work
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a field service environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work outdoors

Experience with residential standby generators or ATS systems is a strong plus

  • 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Occasional flexibility required during emergency service calls
