Otis is seeking a Systems (Electrical) Engineer to support system integration and modernization activities across the North America MOD (Modernization) product portfolio. This role is critical in developing, integrating, and sustaining electrical and control systems for multiple modernization platforms-ensuring compatibility with existing field conditions, adherence to safety and code requirements, and alignment with the strategic NA MOD roadmap.
The ideal candidate has strong electrical engineering fundamentals, experience with multidisciplinary systems, and the ability to translate modernization requirements into actionable engineering deliverables. This position partners closely with New Equipment (NE) centers, Supply Chain, Product Support, and field operations to advance modernization solutions across the region.
On a typical day you will:
  • Support system integration for NA MOD products (e.g., HydroFit, Gen3 Mod Family, RM/RMH, SkyRise Mod), including electrical interfaces, controller requirements, and subsystem interactions.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and decomposition for modernization applications, considering varying hoistway conditions, existing equipment constraints, and code compliance.
  • Assist in validation activities including prototype testing, subsystem evaluations, performance studies, and code-related assessments.
  • Support engineering change implementation (ECNs), documentation updates, and structured release processes.
  • Contribute to technical investigations, including issue triage, root cause analysis, DFMEA inputs, and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, operations, factories, and global engineering teams to ensure successful integration and delivery of MOD solutions.
  • Help drive cost reduction, standardization, and reuse of components or modules between New Equipment and Modernization product lines.

What you will need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-7 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical components, control systems, drives (AC/DC), and electromechanical systems
  • Familiarity with system architecture, requirements management, and subsystem interactions
  • Working knowledge of industrial or elevator codes (ASME A17.1 a plus)
  • Experience supporting engineering changes and structured product development (PLM/ECN)
  • Ability to support technical investigations, issue diagnosis, and documentation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional engineering teams
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with elevator modernization, controllers, electrical schematics, dispatch/rescue systems, and retrofit constraints
  • Exposure to NA modernization product lines (e.g., HydroFit, Gen3 Mod, RM/RMH, SkyRise Mod)
  • Experience with prototype builds or field testing
  • Familiarity with DFMEA methodologies

The salary range for this role is $93,000 - $139,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
