Job description

The Leidos Intel Sector has an opening for an Electrical Engineer in Reston, Virginia. The successful candidate will work as a member of a government contractor team conducting reverse engineering of above ground and underground structures with an emphasis on urban scene building. Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment inside a government facility.
Primary Responsibility
  • Diagnose complex electrical system issues and respond to customer and end-user requests for information.
  • Assess functionality of electrical systems and present system vulnerabilities, impacts and outline possible cascading effects.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and leadership for infrastructure-related decisions.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement the use of software tools and AI tools to carry out facility condition assessments.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Provides professional electrical engineer inputs on infrastructure design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance matters.
  • Provide electrical engineering review of building and facility power distribution, communications, controls, telecommunication and security system.
  • Provide design of electrical systems to support power, communications, controls, fire protection and fire alarm systems, HVAC, and water systems.
  • Perform electrical engineering studies to determine vulnerabilities of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, communications, and security systems.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for design, testing, and development of electrical equipment and systems

Required Qualifications
  • TS/SCI Clearance is required to be considered
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Typically requires BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
  • Proficient in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) tools in the design of electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems, fire protection systems, communications, controls, and security systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply federal, state, local and international building codes and standards in design, review, assessment of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, and testing of complex electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial control systems
  • Deep understanding of high availability and multi-building electrical facilities operations.
  • Ability to resolve highly complex, multi-disciplinary technical problems across electrical systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership and clients on technical strategy and results.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recognized subject matter expert (SME) in electrical engineering design, commissioning, operations and maintenance for facilities and building infrastructures.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance
  • Registered Professional Engineering (P.E.) in electrical engineering from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Proven experience with electrical construction, systems integration, and testing in field environments.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other CAD and BIM software tools.
  • Familiarity with python programing, java script, and application of AI tools.
  • Proficiency in the use electrical power systems analysis software tools such as ETAP, SKM, and EasyPower.
