Job description

We are seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to play a critical role in the planning, coordination, design and execution of electrical systems on complex construction projects. This position collaborates closely with project managers, site engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design partners to ensure electrical scopes are fully coordinated, constructible, and aligned with project goals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and field collaboration, and who believes there’s always a better way to build when teams work together.

  • Serve as the electrical engineering resource for assigned construction projects
  • Develop engineering documents for various scopes of work depending on the project
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design, coordination, and constructability challenges
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, submittals, and means-and-methods
  • Provide practical, field-informed solutions to design gaps and unforeseen conditions
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Site Engineers, subcontractors, and design partners
  • Lead or support electrical coordination efforts with other trades
  • Evaluate risks related to cost, schedule, safety, and quality—and develop mitigation strategies
  • Support preconstruction with budgeting, scope review, and constructability input
  • Participate in operation planning, pre-install meetings, and critical coordination discussions
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and project team members
  • Uphold JP Cullen’s standards for safety, quality, and teamwork on every project

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Professional Engineering license
  • At least five years of Design experience. Advanced expertise and experience in the current release of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong background in commercial, healthcare, industrial, or institutional electrical systems
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems with incomplete information
  • Experience working closely with field teams and navigating real-world constraints
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
  • Confidence making decisions and recommending solutions in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with construction and coordination tools (i.e. Bluebeam, Procore, Revit preferred)
  • A collaborative, calm, and solutions-oriented mindset

We specialize in the “Tough Jobs” no one else can do and we need an Electrical Engineer with the technical expertise and collaboration mindset to help deliver even the most complex projects safely, on time, and on budget.

At JP Cullen, you’ll be part of a 5th generation, family-owned construction management firm founded in 1892, with over 130 years of building excellence across healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial markets.
