We are adding to our Engineering TEAM to support BAPI's growth.

This position is for Electronic Design Engineers candidates with an ABET accredited Electrical Design Engineer Degree.

Experience in this type of position is required - - 7 yrs preferred.


Building Automation Products, Inc (BAPI) is a company that promotes work life balance. BAPI is a privately owned business with a global presence.


Position Summary: Adds value to BAPI and the Engineering Team by independently leading defined electronic design projects and subsystems from requirements through release. Provides technical expertise in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), wireless systems, emissions and immunity, noise rejection, and wired digital communication interfaces. Develops reliable analog and digital hardware, makes project-level technical trade-offs, coordinates cross-functional requirements, improves design reuse and manufacturability, and provides guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Principle Responsibilities:

Design HVAC/R products to provide customer-driven solutions that meet or exceed requirements:

  1. Lead schematic and PCB design for assigned new-product and sustaining projects
  2. Use Altium Designer or equivalent to create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, libraries, and manufacturing outputs
  3. Design accurate, reliable, and manufacturable analog and digital circuitry
  4. Translate product requirements into documented electrical design requirements
  5. Design analog and digital circuitry with emphasis on accuracy, reliability, signal integrity, noise rejection, and operation in electrically noisy environments
  6. Select components based on performance, availability, lifecycle, cost, and compliance
  7. Coordinate hardware interfaces with Firmware, Test, Product Management, and Manufacturing Engineering
  8. Troubleshoot and debug hardware and related firmware interactions
  9. Test, verify, and validate assigned designs using appropriate laboratory equipment
  10. Review design work and provide technical guidance within assigned scope

Provide ongoing Production support and implement design change:

  1. Own assigned engineering changes from evaluation through release
  2. Investigate product and production issues using structured root-cause methods
  3. Recommend design or process changes that improve quality, cost, throughput, or reliability
  4. Support component substitutions, product launch, and sustaining-engineering activities


Maintain complete and accurate design documentation, including schematics, PCB files, bills of material, calculations, design-review records, manufacturing outputs, archives, and reports.


Maintain industry knowledge through training, publications, technology evaluation, and professional networks.

Contribute to team effort, including special projects and tasks delegated by the supervisor.

Requirements:

Education Requirements (R/Required, P/Preferred):

(R) Bachelorโ€™s Degree (ABET Accredited)

(P) Masterโ€™s Degree

Degrees Preferred: Electrical or Electronics Engineering


Training, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Specific Training in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

  1. (R) Analog and Digital Circuit Design
  2. (R) Altium Designer or equivalent schematic-capture and PCB-layout software
  3. (R) Microsoft Office
  4. (R) EMC design principles, including grounding, shielding, filtering, isolation, and PCB layout
  5. (R) Wired serial interfaces, including RS-232 and RS-485
  6. (R) Digital building automation communications, including BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU
  7. (R) Use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and relevant pre-compliance equipment
  8. (P) HVAC/R Industry
  9. (P) Network topology and communication protocols

Experience/Knowledge in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

1. (R) Demonstrated experience designing analog and digital electronic products

2. (R) Demonstrated experience creating schematics and PCB layouts in Altium Designer or equivalent

3. (R) Experience managing multiple design projects or workstreams

4. (R) Five years designing analog and digital circuitry, or equivalent demonstrated capability

5. (R) Experience using typical electronics and RF laboratory equipment

6. (R) Experience leading assigned designs through verification, validation, and production release

7. (P) Five or more years of electronic product-design experience or equivalent demonstrated capability

8. (P) Experience supporting formal EMC, wireless, or regulatory certification testing
