Description
Job Summary: Instructional Developer is tasked with creating effective and memorable learning experiences for learners via video, audio, and other advanced eLearning modalities. Additional responsibilities include interacting with key stakeholders to conduct needs assessments, validate content, and conduct quality control. This role is an advancement from Instructional Developer.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and procsses to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Designs and creates high-quality interactive development content in multiple mediums including creative digital graphic design, web design, simulation design, digital animation, creation of interactive course elements, course management support, etc.
  • Assesses, designs, and delivers learner-driven instructional materials and products for technology-based training on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Uses instructional design models to create course content and offer advice to other members of the Talent Development team.
  • Acts as a functional lead over components of larger development projects (e.g. courses, course components, learning objects, micro-learning, nano-learning, etc.)
  • Researches and recommends new technologies and/or learning modalities.
  • Consults with individuals and business unit leaders to conduct a needs assessment of policies, procedures, regulations, behaviors, business initiatives, and technologies.
  • Develops and executes various communications via the web, email, and/or print media such as presentation decks, communication plans, integrated marketing campaigns, corporate communication materials, email templates, and optimized web content, based on organizational objectives.
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles of adult learning theory, instructional systems design, and needs assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of best practices in the use of technology for teaching and learning, industry standards, terminology, instructional design, and technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of developing online courses in a Learning Management System (LMS). Includes SCORM compliance.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication skills and proven customer service skills.
  • Experience applying ADA or Section 508 compliance standards to web-based instruction.
  • Strong project management, planning, coordination, and organization skills with the ability to plan project tasks/events and execute the timeline.
  • Sound decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work on multiple projects and deal effectively with employees and management.
  • Ability to produce quality results using rapid development models and tools.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a diversified team.
  • Ability to add creativity and design elements to the development process.
  • Some knowledge of photography, creating stock images on company sites.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Project Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience developing training content for business processes and/or technical software topics for eLearning and adults.
Preferred Experience
  • 2+ years’ experience using eLearning development tools. Articulate Storyline 360 experience is a must; Articulate Rise and Adobe Creative tools experience is helpful.
2+ years’ experience with capturing images and using screen capture tools such as Snagit.
2+ years’ experience with video and audio production and editing using tools such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Adobe Audition.
360 video/VR creation experience preferred.
Supervisory or mentoring/coaching experience preferred.

  • Up to 10% travel
Physical Requirements:
  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
  • This role frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Occasionally moves or transports items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Work primarily performed in a professional office environment or suitably equipped home office.
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
