Job Description / Essential Elements:
EL RANCHO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
MAINTENANCE WORKER II
DEFINITION
Under supervision, to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
As a helper and working independently, performs semi-skilled work and preventive maintenance work in one or more of the trades, maintenance of mechanical areas such as carpentry, electrical, electronics, equipment maintenance, heating and refrigeration, locksmithing, painting, and plumbing; assists with and handles all kinds of material and equipment; uses a variety of hand tools and operates machinery; loads trucks with materials and equipment and drives to and from destinations; assembles furniture and equipment; performs heavy manual labor; cleans work area upon completion of jobs; services a variety of heating and ventilating equipment involving cleaning, oiling, and replacing parts; keeps records of work performed.
LICENSE REQUIRED
Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver's License.
Knowledge of:
Basic operations, tools, and terms used in the trades and other maintenance areas.
Ability to:
Perform semi-skilled work in one or more of the trades or maintenance areas; identify and use hand tools and machinery used in various trades or maintenance areas; maintain routine records; understand and carry out oral and written directions; perform heavy manual labor, lifting in excess of 100 pounds; read and write at a level sufficient to read simple work instructions and manuals and prepare simple work and time records.
Experience:
One year experience performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work, or two years at or equivalent to the level of Maintenance Worker I with El Rancho Unified School District.
Education:
Persons with the knowledge, abilities, and experience as stated are considered to have the necessary education.
