What You'll Work On

The Environmental, Health, Safety, & Security (EHS&S) Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS&S programs. The position ensures full compliance with corporate policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a safe work environment and minimizing risk to employees, property, and the surrounding community.

  • Lead and manage plant-wide Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) programs in alignment with corporate, divisional, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Corporate, Federal, State, and local EHS laws and regulations
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and maintain strong, cooperative relationships
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to management and staff on EHS&S matters
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for employees and safeguard the surrounding community and environment
  • Develop and deliver high-quality EHS&S training programs for employees at all levels
  • Conduct audits of EHS&S programs, identify improvement areas, and ensure timely corrective actions
  • Evaluate new equipment, materials, chemicals, processes, and procedures for EHS&S compliance
  • Oversee and coordinate emergency response activities for the site
  • Manage EHS&S and security budgets and ensure effective resource allocation
  • Supervise and support a team of 11 employees

You'll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (with preference for Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety, or related field)
  • 5-7 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) roles
  • Strong knowledge of applicable EHS regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing EHS programs and ensuring plant-wide compliance
  • Ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies, corporate leadership, and employees at all levels
  • Experience managing budgets related to EHS and security functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Michigan Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and influencing safety culture
  • Experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health, and facility security programs
  • Strong background in safety training development and delivery
