Job description

We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join our senior leadership team at our Sturbridge, MA manufacturing facility. This is an onsite role responsible for shaping the site's safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and integrating process safety programs in a continuous manufacturing environment.

The EHS Manager is a key member of the site's senior management team and will serve as a strategic partner in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, the protection of our environment, and the reliability of our operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate visible leadership, core technical expertise, and a passion for safety.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  • BS/BA in a related discipline required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience and leadership in progressive EHS roles
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable industrial regulations and standards
  • Strong leadership skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in manufacturing

QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):

  • MS in a related discipline
  • Professional certification(s) such as CSP, CHMM, or CIH.
  • Experience in core process safety management disciplines
  • Experience working in a Union environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the site EHS team and foster a culture of proactive safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Partner with site leadership to develop, implement and continuously improve EHS strategies and initiatives aligned with company vision and regulatory obligations.
  • Champion employee engagement and accountability around EHS policies, practices, and initiatives.
  • Lead permitting, reporting, auditing, and regulatory inspections.
  • Lead Worker's Compensation claim management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate process safety into project design, operational changes, and day-to-day decision-making.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve safety programs and processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Strong Oral & Written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with employees at all levels within Lightera, including Senior Management, Engineering and Support Staff, Union, and Non-Union team members.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and independently, in addition to being a valuable team member.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
  • A self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to encourage and participate in the ongoing development of a sustainable safety culture.

* Hiring Range:

$110,000 - $150,000
