ย Pay Range: $110,000/yr. - $140,000/yr. based on experience and qualifications.

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs at Home Market Foods (HMF)ย ย South Windsor Manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors and visitors. The EHS Manager reports into the Director of EHS and works closely with management, employees, and regulatory agencies to develop and enforce policies and procedures that protect the well-being of all stakeholders. The candidate must possess a strong background in Health and Safety cultural activities and improvements as well as Environment and Sustainability initiatives to include monitoring, execution, and recordkeeping of compliance report for State and Federal (Tier II, Form R, GHG, PSM, RMP, etc.). The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of employees and the environment within an organization. ย 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in line with local, state, and federal regulations.ย 
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits toย identifyย potential hazards, assess risks, and recommendย appropriate correctiveย actions.ย 
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental conservation practices.ย 
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement.ย 
  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing rootย causesย and implementing preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.ย 
  • Maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS) and ensure compliance with hazard communication standards.ย 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic solutions, promote wellness initiatives, and mitigate occupational health risks.ย 
  • Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices, and communicate changes and updates to the organization.ย 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies,ย participatingย in inspections, audits, and permit applications.ย 
  • Serve as the main point of contact for both manufacturing sites and supports site PSM Process Engineer in overseeing PSM program requirementsย 
  • Develop andย maintainย emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and coordinate drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.ย ย Serves as site Emergency Coordinator for EHS programs.ย ย 
  • Oversee plant security operations in partnership with the Physical Security Manager, ensuring the protection of employees, visitors, facilities, and company assets through effective access controls, security protocols, incident response procedures, and ongoing risk assessments.ย 
  • Other duties as assigned.ย 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, orย a relatedย field.ย 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional certification preferred.ย 
  • Minimum ofย 7ย years of experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.ย 
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, MAย DEPย and other relevant regulations and standards.ย 
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety training programs and managing safety committees.ย 
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and incident investigation techniques.ย 
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 standards is a plus.ย 
  • Experience in food manufacturing, HACCP or SQF is a plus.ย 
  • Experience with PSM, specificallyย Ammoniaย also a plus.ย 
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance requirements, including but not limited to EHS, MA DEP, OSHA, strong knowledge of PSM, and DOT.ย 
  • Previousย experience working in a manufacturing plant start-up environment, establishing EHS processes, compliance programs, and safety culture from the ground up.ย 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train employees,ย facilitateย discussions, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.ย 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills toย identifyย risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.ย 
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.ย 
  • Ability to lead and influence others, fostering a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in using computer software and systems to manage and track safety data and information.ย 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:ย 

  • Able to work onย sustainedย basis in cold,ย high heatย environments.ย 
  • Ability to climb ladders.ย ย 
  • Abilityย to wear as needed safety equipment to include but notย be limitedย toย respirator.ย ย 
  • Ability toย lift upย to 25lbs.ย 
  • Ability to travel occasionally to various company locations or sites as needed.ย
