Dakota State University is accepting applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position in education. The position may include teaching courses in general education, reading pedagogy, language arts pedagogy, and special education. The start date of this position is Fall 2026.
Required Qualifications:
  • The position requires an earned doctorate in education. ABD candidates may also be considered. A terminal degree must be completed within two years.
  • K-12 teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ability to develop a strong and active research agenda.
  • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Teaching with technology.
  • Documented expertise in the Science of Reading, such as LETRS trained, AIM Training, and/or leadership in implementation of Science of Reading aligned curriculum.
  • Experience supporting or leading professional development in K-12 schools

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate education courses primarily related to literacy education and the Science of Reading.
  • Supporting the implementation of a pilot program that supports schools in developing and implementing a Science of Reading aligned literacy plan.
  • Depending on qualifications, responsibilities may also include graduate courses in educational technology integration and literacy instructional coaching.
  • Researching and publishing relevant scholarship.
  • Active pursuit of grant and funding opportunities.
  • Additional duties may include advising students, serving on university committees, assisting with recruitment activities, supervising field experiences, and/or engaging in ongoing assessment.
