Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings to identify students' mental health needs, facilitating the development of personalized treatment plans that are sensitive to their individual challenges.
  • Implement individual and group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to student experiences, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and other modalities.
  • Collaborate with educational staff and other mental health professionals to create a holistic support system for students and facilitate integrated care, ensuring everyone involved understands the therapeutic goals.
  • Engage with families to bolster support systems at home, providing education and resources that empower family involvement in the recovery process.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential documentation of client interactions, complying with all regulatory and ethical standards in mental health care.
  • Monitor clients' progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans in response to changing needs or circumstances.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on school-aged children and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health challenges, from anxiety and depression to behavioral concerns. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will create a nurturing environment that fosters growth and encourages students to develop coping mechanisms for their unique struggles.

Qualifications
  • A current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant clinical experience in mental health counseling or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practices for child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Demonstrated therapeutic and counseling skills with an ability to establish rapport and motivate young clients.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate teamwork and maintain collaborative relationships.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within educational settings or with school-aged clients.
  • Familiarity with virtual therapy platforms and tools to conduct remote counseling sessions effectively.
  • Proficiency in culturally competent care practices to address the diverse backgrounds of students and families.
