Description
The Services Developer Experience team is seeking a talented Software Engineer to build the next generation of AI-powered developer tooling that hundreds of Apple engineers rely on daily. In this role, you'll design and implement intelligent agents that transform the software development lifecycle-from initial development through testing, deployment, and beyond.
You'll create tools that serve both human developers and autonomous agents, establishing patterns for AI-assisted workflows that scale across teams and improve both velocity and quality. This means building production-grade AI systems that handle code generation, automated review, intelligent testing, deployment orchestration, and continuous optimization. Your work will make AI capabilities a seamless, integrated part of how developers build services at Apple.
This role combines deep engineering fundamentals with cutting-edge AI agent development. You'll tackle challenges spanning distributed systems, developer tooling infrastructure, and AI agent orchestration. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional partners, you'll translate requirements into resilient, performant systems that continually evolve with the needs of Apple's engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with TypeScript and frontend development.
Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and LLM libraries (e.g., LangChain, Hugging Face).
Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment.
Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) and microservices architectures.
Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems principles.
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of industry experience building backend systems.
Strong programming skills in Java and Python.
Experience developing AI agents using libraries such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack or Claude Agent SDK.
Background in integrating AI systems into developer tools or productivity platforms.
Experience with databases (relational and/or NoSQL) and scalable service architectures.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $142,300 and $263,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
