Position Overview and Qualifications

In the role of Patient Flow Coordinator, you will be essential in guaranteeing that patients receive prompt, efficient, and compassionate care from the moment they enter the Emergency Department. Your responsibilities will include managing patient movement, optimizing departmental resources, and collaborating closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure a smooth flow that enhances both care quality and staff productivity. Through effective communication, teamwork, and swift decision-making, you will work to reduce wait times, enhance patient experiences, and improve overall departmental performance.

Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Working alongside Emergency Department personnel to ensure proper patient placement and efficient transitions throughout all care stages.
  • Coordinating EMS transports and triage processes to facilitate timely room assignments, hand-offs, and safe care transitions.
  • Collaborating with the Nursing Supervisor to manage patient transfers and admissions from the Emergency Department.
  • Monitoring staffing levels and patient volumes to suggest optimal scheduling that ensures a safe and effective workflow.
  • Evaluating wait times, test turnaround, and other throughput metrics to identify areas for process improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Serving as a communication bridge between physicians, patients, families, and hospital departments to promote teamwork and exceptional patient experiences.
Qualifications Required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • No travel is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary.
