Job description

Physician Assistant Opportunity

Join us and be a part of Trilliumโ€”a mission driven team committed to expanding access to high quality, compassionate care for everyone we serve. Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and the oversight of the supervising/assigned Physician, the Physician Assistant provides comprehensive care to Trillium Health patients. The scope of practice includes primary and/or specialty care delivery (HIV/HepC, PEP/PrEP, Transgender/LGBT Health), education, health promotion, and collaboration with patients, families, and all Trillium Health staff. The ability to work as a member of a team is critical.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Requirements

  • Develop and maintain a supervising physician agreement in accordance with New York State regulations.
  • Practice within the scope defined by New York State law and supervising physician agreement.
  • Maintain appropriate credentials to practice at Trillium Health.
  • Utilize applicable standards of care and scope of practice guidelines for Physician Assistants.

Patients

  • Perform histories and physicals, routine and urgent office visits.
  • Review laboratory and diagnostic test results and perform office procedures as credentialed.
  • Provide patient and family education and support health literacy.
  • Promote health including nutrition, stress management, sexual health, contraception, smoking cessation, and substance use support.
  • Participate actively in case management and interdisciplinary team care.
  • Supervise clinical interventions provided by registered nurse staff in partnership with physician providers.
  • Participate in continuing education including primary care and HIV/AIDS-related care.
  • Conduct peer reviews and chart reviews in accordance with agency policies.

Miscellaneous

  • Requires the ability and commitment to respect and support patients, other employees and visitors with various lived experiences.
  • Requires individual demonstration of commitment to the mission, vision, One Trillium values, behaviors and modeling them in the organization.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient, client, employee, protected and proprietary information.
  • Employees are accountable for meeting the performance standards of their departments and must participate as requested in compliance audits and quality improvement plans.
  • Required to participate in continuous improvement of job responsibilities and organizational or work processes to advance the organization or department.
  • Other specific duties as assigned.
Required Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a board-certified Physician Assistant.
  • M.S. degree in Physician Assistant studies.
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
  • Experience in community-based healthcare preferred.
  • EMR familiarity preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend, and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
