What are Edtech Internships?

Edtech internships are short-term work experiences with organizations that focus on educational technology, such as companies, startups, or educational institutions. These internships allow students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in areas like instructional design, educational software development, product management, or digital content creation. Interns often work on projects involving technology integration in classrooms, user research, and supporting the development of new educational tools. Edtech internships are a great way to build relevant skills, learn about the intersection of education and technology, and expand professional networks in this growing field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Edtech Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Edtech Intern, you generally need a background in education or technology, basic understanding of digital learning platforms, and strong organizational skills. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), content creation tools, and common collaboration software like Google Workspace is highly valued. Strong communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn are standout soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively supporting educational technology initiatives and contributing to team-driven projects in a dynamic environment.

What are some common challenges faced during Edtech internships and how can interns effectively overcome them?

Edtech internships often require adapting quickly to new educational technologies and rapidly changing project requirements. Interns may find it challenging to balance technical tasks with understanding pedagogical goals, especially if collaborating with educators and developers. To overcome these challenges, it's helpful to communicate regularly with mentors, ask clarifying questions, and seek feedback on your work. Building strong teamwork skills and staying curious about both education and technology trends will help you succeed and make the most of your internship experience.

Think Zone Learning Center, part of the TAL Education Group, is a fast-growing EdTech company providing personalized math and English education to K–8 students. As we scale from 0–1 and expand across the Bay Area, we are building the next generation of leaders who can grow with the company.

Position Overview

We are hiring an EdTech Management Trainee (Marketing Track)—an early-career role designed for candidates who are eager to learn, grow, and develop into future leaders.

This role is ideal for someone who may not yet have extensive full-time experience, but is motivated, hands-on, and excited to build real-world marketing capabilities in a fast-growing operating environment. You will rotate across marketing functions and work closely with operations, enrollment, and product teams to support business growth.

  • Assist with Chinese social media marketing (e.g., Xiaohongshu), including content planning, publishing, and influencer collaboration.
  • Analyze marketing data and campaign results to inform iteration and optimization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, enrollment, and product teams to support growth initiatives.
  • Participate in rotational learning across departments and take on increasing responsibilities as skills and ownership grow.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese (required).
  • 0–3 years of experience in marketing or related fields; internship or project experience is welcome.
  • Prior exposure to digital marketing, content creation, or social media is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Google Ads, Meta Ads, or analytics tools is preferred but not required.
  • Interest in Chinese social platforms (e.g., Xiaohongshu) is a strong plus.
  • Strong learning ability, initiative, and willingness to take ownership.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-style 0–1 environment.

Why Join Us
  • Structured growth path toward senior marketing or leadership roles.
  • Hands-on learning in a rapidly growing EdTech company.
  • High ownership and real business impact from day one.
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture.
  • Exposure to cross-functional operations and leadership development.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Health Insurance
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Professional development and internal growth opportunities
