Position Summary:ย 

The primary focus of this position is to work independently reviewing, organizing and editing legislation and working with municipal clients in the preparation of supplements.


Essential Functions:

  • Read and assimilate background information on client and identify special instructions or needs
  • Incorporate additional legislation and/or amend existing legislation
  • Determine impact of legislation on Code and completeness of information provided
  • Finalize Disposition List from legislation database
  • Review legislation and other materials for internal conflicts, inconsistencies and clarity
  • Edit content for organization, grammar and style
  • Add historical information
  • Create or revise effective chapter, article and section titles
  • Check, create or revise cross-references in the text
  • Check statutory references
  • Add editor's notesย 
  • Identify missing legislation or missing wording in the text of legislation
  • Set style for word processing/proofreading to carry out
  • Update Adopting Ordinances and supporting documents
  • Clarify project deliverables with clientย 
  • Follow up on material in hold

Secondary Functions:

  • ย Communicate to other functions any pertinent information needed for the project
  • ย Execute project to most efficiently meet client needs and project budgets
  • ย Set and enforce schedules and timelines, where appropriate
  • ย Communicate with clients via phone, written contact and teleconference, as needed
  • ย Resolve conflicts and solve problems

Requirements
