Position Overview
Bonneville Seattle is looking for a passionate leader to oversee and manage all content for MyNorthwest with the objective of growing and maximizing our audience. This person will manage the digital content production staff's day to day performance. They will ensure that digital properties are compelling, updated in a timely manner, and operating effectively all the while working in harmony with, and in support of, the Company's legacy media properties.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
  • This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to work at our Seattle site.

What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Cultivate a distinct brand identity for MyNorthwest by identifying the specific types of stories, angles, styles and techniques. Ensure that our digital team understands and delivers on the brand expectation.
  • Provide editorial vision and voice, and day-to-day direction for MyNorthwest including story selection, presentation, tools, resources, and staffing.
  • Supervise a team of writers responsible for the content on MyNorthwest including recruitment, training, scheduling, assignments, coaching, goal-setting and performance feedback.
  • Lead the production, gathering, editing, and updating of content for MyNorthwest on a daily basis. Must work closely with others in the building to accomplish this function.
  • Able to work closely with Bonneville Seattle's management team to ensure company-wide initiatives are met. Must be willing to offer ideas, suggestions, and other initiatives for the Company that are innovative and creative.
  • Create and maintain a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Ability to support all digital properties and work with on-air personalities. Willingness to produce on-air content as needed.
  • Ensure that the radio stations' overall image of quality and leadership is carried over to the website

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
  • Able to manage a team of writers, with a growth mindset, including scheduling, pitch meetings, editorial calendars, and special projects.
  • Able to onboard new writers/contributors and communicate company policies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, headline writing, and grammar skills. Update and adhere to Style guide.
  • Ability to edit, produce, and create accurate, well-presented content in a quick, timely manner.
  • Able to develop sources, pitch multiple story ideas, and follow beats.
  • Able to demonstrate sound news judgment and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excels in times of stress. Ability to adapt in breaking news situations.
  • Able to ghost write or adopt another contributor's style and tone.
  • Able to digest large quantities of audio and then write an article based on what you've heard.
  • Able to engage with the audience on social platforms, comments section. Experience with Facebook, Facebook Live, Twitter, and Instagram, and how to use them for story curation and integration.
  • Understanding of SEO and able to optimize articles for search.
  • Able to read and digest analytics and make quick editorial decisions based on results.
  • Ability to support all digital properties and work with on-air personalities. Willingness to produce on-air content as needed.
  • Must possess computer skills and the ability to learn new programs and HTML. Must enjoy working with computers and technology.
  • Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to consistently work hours required. Position requires extreme flexibility; able to work evenings, weekends, odd hours, etc. to ensure that digital properties are continually updated and fresh. Flexibility to work during breaking news and other big news events required. Willing to updated content remotely from home and elsewhere as needed.
  • Develop pages for new site features, events, activities, etc. This includes gathering relevant information and graphic elements from various departments and entities for the website.
  • Ensure that the web site provides and promotes sales activities. Help direct the site toward becoming a profitable business activity.
  • Market and promote the stations via the website. This includes stations' image and brand, events, products, etc. maximize the sites as effective communications medium for stations.
  • Interface and coordinate with technical team regarding technical aspects of web operations (servers, connectivity, etc.). Work with IT to ensure that systems are functioning properly.
  • Ensure that all web related systems are functioning on a daily basis; streaming, content/data feeds, ad servers, etc.
  • Manage online events and special features (interactive contests, message boards, etc.) as well as social media content.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients.
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor both in person and online, including across social media channels.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4 year degree (journalism, communications) or commensurate work experience.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Digital Content Management Systems, preferably WordPress, HTML, and Photoshop. Audio and Video editing software is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Compensation Range
$26.73 - $36.92
Hourly rate will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks. The pay range provided here spans multiple levels for this role.
