Salary range: The full pay range for this role is $23.00 to $43.00 per hour, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

Scope of Job: We are seeking dedicated and talented individuals for roles ranging from entry-level Technician 1 to expert Technician 5 to perform maintenance, repair, and operational activities on utility-scale renewable energy assets, including wind turbines, Photovoltaic (PV) power systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

 
Candidates will be placed at the level commensurate with their experience, qualifications, and successful completion of internal competency standards.

Required Training: Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend a mandatory 3-4 week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.

This position is onsite at our King Creek 1 and 2 sites located in Throckmorton, Texas.


The level of autonomy, technical complexity, and leadership responsibility distinctly separates the four technician roles.

RolePrimary FocusOn the job Autonomy & LeadershipTechnician 1 (Entry-Level)Assisting experienced techs with maintenance and repairs; learning safety protocols.Works under direct supervision and specific direction.Technician 2 (Experienced)Independent preventative maintenance; routine troubleshooting and minor upgrades.High independence on PMs; participates in the 24-hour "On Call" rotation.Technician 3 (Senior)Advanced troubleshooting and unsupervised corrective maintenance.Unsupervised execution of all corrective/preventative maintenance; trains and oversees Tech 1 & 2. 
Shared Responsibilities (Applicable to All Levels)
All technicians share a commitment to safety, operational excellence, and asset integrity.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, and lead site safety assessments.
  • Maintain company property and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Accurately complete all administrative work, including daily maintenance logs, work orders, time tracking, and warranty/inventory documentation.
  • Attend all required safety and technical training.
  • Maintain the highest level of system integrity and support site budget control by seeking efficiencies.
  • Technician levels 2-5 participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for system monitoring and fault identification.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
These conditions are applicable to all Renewable Energy Technician levels.
  • Field Work: Work is primarily conducted 100% in the renewable asset field for Techs 1-3. Tech 4 may spend approximately 20% of time in the office environment.
  • Work at Height: Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of over 300 feet (91 meters) and work at those heights and in confined spaces.
  • Conditions: Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) and in an electrical-mechanical environment with high voltage/stored energy.
  • Lifting: Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Safety Restriction (Wind only): Due to weight restrictions for fall-arrest equipment, the maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs.
