Job description

Emergency Department Tech - Evenings (FT)

Shift: Evenings (1P - 1A)

JOB SUMMARY: Reports to Emergency Department Nurse Manager and supervised by Charge Nurse. ED Tech assists licensed nurses in delivering quality nursing care in the Emergency Department and assists doctors with procedures. ED Tech helps maintain supplies are stocked on the unit and cleans unit and transports patients.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job Specific:

  1. Ensure that the ED has appropriate patient supplies for daily operations: Essential Function (EF)
  2. Maintain and organize unit and patient areas. (EF)
  3. Responsible for the cleaning of beds, work area, and linen (dirty & clean). (EF)
  4. Accountable for transporting ED contaminated instruments to Sterile Processing and restocking the instrument cart to appropriate levels. (EF)
  5. Responsible for assisting nurses with receiving and discharging patients.(EF)
  6. Assist nurses with patient care. (EF)
  7. Help train new ED Tech staff.(EF)
  8. Responsible to fill HUC position as needed.(EF)
  9. Other duties as required. (EF)
  10. Responsible to answer phone. (EF)
  11. Transport patients as needed.(EF)
  12. Assist physicians with patients. (EF)

Hospital:

  1. Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
  2. Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
  3. Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
  4. Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.
