Job description

Meta seeks an experienced professional to support the company’s state public policy and government relations efforts in the Midwest US. Candidates will be responsible for political engagement and issue advocacy across a territory of US states. This position will report to the Public Policy Director, Midwest/Western US. The position is based in DC, or remote from the Indianapolis, IN or Columbus, OH areas. Frequent travel is required.
Public Policy Manager, Midwest Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with state policymakers in the region to promote the safe and efficient use of internet technologies and economic development
  • Monitor the political environment and identify opportunities to advance state and local policies that benefit the company, the state, and local communities
  • Work closely with industry groups, nonprofits and legislative organizations to promote company objectives for economic development and a safe, secure, and open internet
  • Manage relationships with state policymakers
  • Ensure that Meta cross-functional partners and internal stakeholders receive timely updates on developments
  • Develop strategies for engagement with chambers of commerce, industry associations, non-profits, and civil society groups to advance priorities in region
  • Willingness to travel (primarily in-region) up to 60% of the time based on need

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in state public policy, lobbying, or government affairs
  • Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in region
  • Knowledge of technology and economic development policy and advocacy landscape in region
  • Demonstrated experience creating and implement advocacy campaigns directly relevant to state government, including achieving short and long term milestones related to advancing policy, political and/or advocacy goals
  • Experience managing contract lobbyists and managing partnerships with trade associations and other advocacy groups
  • Experience driving and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience leading through influence and informal authority
  • Bachelors degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
