Job Summary
This role reports to the Director - Economic Development & Business Relations and manages a team of Economic Development and Business Relations professionals. The Regional Manager leads and
implements NYSEG and RG&E regional economic development, customer engagement, and business relationship strategies. This role supports business attraction, retention, and expansion, strengthens key
stakeholder relationships, and advances strategic, operational, and regulatory objectives. The position balances customer needs, operational priorities, regulatory requirements, and long-term growth
objectives through regional leadership, business development, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute regional strategies that integrate economic development and business relations objectives supporting business attraction, retention, expansion, customer satisfaction, load growth, regulatory commitments, and long-term company goals.
  • Lead Economic Development and Business Relations teams by setting performance expectations, metrics, and management systems that support customer service, continuous improvement, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and business objectives.
  • Manage team development, accountability, and alignment with NYSEG and RG&E strategic priorities across regional customer and economic development activities.
  • Oversee identification, attraction, retention, and expansion of business opportunities through utility infrastructure planning, economic development programs, strategic incentives, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Direct Business Relations activities for major customer accounts, large-scale development projects, infrastructure initiatives, and complex customer requests.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory, and Corporate Affairs to address customer, project, infrastructure, and business relationship needs.
  • Build professional relationships and assume leadership roles with local, regional, and statewide economic development, business, governmental, and community organizations.
  • Partner with developers, site selectors, municipal leaders, chambers of commerce, industrial development agencies, and other stakeholders to position NYSEG and RG&E as economic and community development partners.
  • Support customer communications related to major infrastructure projects, service requests, capital investments, distributed energy resources, electrification initiatives, and emerging energy solutions affecting regional business customers.
  • Implement approved change and process improvement initiatives that support company vision, strategic objectives, organizational transformation, customer experience, collaboration, and operational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in business relations, customer management, engineering, project management, economic development, marketing, or sales.
  • Direct experience interacting with customers, economic development organizations, government entities, business and community organizations, and related leaders.
  • Demonstrated success through progressively challenging roles.
  • Expert professional business relationship management skills, including negotiation and customer-focused stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and team leadership.
  • Advanced verbal, written, public speaking, presentation, training, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain attention to detail, and follow through with customers and stakeholders in rapidly changing or stressful environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; must have flexibility to travel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a utility environment with exposure to rates, tariffs, and gas and electric distribution systems.
