Promotions Assistant - Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel
Position Summary:
The Promotions Assistant acts as a brand ambassador for Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel and is responsible for providing an industry leading customer and Guest experience. The Promotions staff interacts with Guests, customers, other waterpark and hotel departments, and is expected to display professional conduct in performing all duties. Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel is an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan and operates under the policies and procedures of Migizi Economic Development Company.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Host birthday parties and special events while interacting with Guests of all ages. Must work in unison with Sales staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in decorating hotel and waterpark for special events and holidays. This may require use of ladders and miscellaneous office and craft equipment. Promotions Assistants come into contact with latex balloons and promotional items.
  • Ability to assist to set up meeting rooms for events: move and lift tables and chairs, place table linens, and table center pieces, bus food and beverage as needed.
  • Assist in implementation and execution of special events and entertainment programs both on-site, and off-site.
  • Display and practice Guest Service Standards as outlined through Migizi Guest Service training program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Skill Requirements:
  • Must be comfortable interacting with children and families
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. (weekend work will comprise the majority of job hours)
  • Must be available for travel to events throughout Michigan. This travel will be for Trade Shows, Sponsorship Commitments, Parades, and other opportunities as they arise to promote Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. At times requiring multi-night stays. (approximately 5 - 10 days annually)
  • Strong communication skills are essential to success in this position.
  • Superior organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in customer relations
  • Ability to work in mascot costumes to entertain Guests.

Work environment and safety standards:
This position requires frequent and extended periods of walking and standing. Frequent bending, pushing, and lifting up to 40 lbs. of office supplies, event equipment, and promotional materials is required. There is frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrist movement associated with computer operation, and crafting. The position requires the frequent wearing of a mascot costume that must be comfortably put on and removed as well as meet appearance standards for the character when worn.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age.
  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan and Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Driver's License.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Preferred:
  • Experience in customer service, events, promotions, or other related field.
  • Native American.
