Ohana’s Earn & Learn Nurse Aide Training Program:

Participants receive Free Nurse Aide Training and earn wages while attending class. Work may run concurrent with Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP) or commence following completion of NATP. Great opportunity to explore careers in post-acute care.

Free Course Instruction with Full-time or Part-Time Employment:

  • Course schedule TBD (anticipate 2-3 days per week)
  • Duration: 100 hours, in-person instruction
  • Course instruction provided by State approved Nurse Aide Training Program
  • Work as a Nurse Aide will commence following program completion at various locations:
    • Ann Pearl Rehab & Nursing, Kaneohe, Oahu
    • Hale Makua Kahului, Kahului, Maui
    • Hale Kupuna Heritage Home, Koloa, Kauai
    • Legacy Hilo, Hilo, Hawaii Island
  • Final step will include Prometric Exam to obtain Certified Nurse Aide status


The Position:

Nurse Aides/CNA’s are the primary caregivers in post-acute and long-term care settings, providing nursing care and services for residents, that include personal and restorative care and activities of daily living.

  • Ohana Nurse Aides (NAs) orient new residents to the unit and facility: Call system, bathroom, shower schedule, and common areas; introduces to residents; informs of meal schedule, snack times, and activities calendar.
  • Nurse Aides (NAs) respond to resident calls, call bells, call lights, and alarms immediately. Responds to family requests. Informs Charge Nurse when required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent / Minimum age of 18 by end of Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Completion of Hawaii Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Scheduled Prometric exam within 120 days of hire.
  • Current and valid 2 Step TB clearance and health review (can be done in-house).
