Are you ready to shape how mission-critical technology is adopted across the Intelligence Community? Leidos is seeking a creative, collaborative, and mission-driven Senior Training Coordinator/Instructional Designer to join an innovative Agile software development program, Chinook, supporting an Intelligence Community customer.

In this highly visible role, you’ll transform complex technical capabilities into engaging, user-focused learning experiences that empower mission users to confidently adopt new technologies. Working alongside software engineers, Product Managers, scrum teams, and customer stakeholders, you’ll design and deliver training that enables successful software deployments and drives mission success.

Position may be performed in the following locations below.  Please note Gaithersburg, MD is the program’s primary work location.

Clearance Level Required:

Active Top Secret/SCI with the ability to successfully pass a Polygraph examination.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced training programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of customer users and mission objectives.

  • Manage the end-to-end training process, from needs analysis and content development to delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement.

  • Create and deliver customized training materials such as CONUS and OCONUS instructor-led courses, e-learning modules, job aids, and user documentation, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the customer’s geospatial intelligence tools.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in instructional design methodologies, applying adult learning principles and best practices to create effective learning experiences.

  • Coordinate training schedules, logistics, and resources to support both in-person and virtual training sessions for customer personnel.

  • Partner closely with customer mission stakeholders, technical teams, and SMEs to identify user requirements and define clear, measurable learning objectives for training programs.

  • Evaluate and assess training effectiveness through feedback, testing, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement of training initiatives.

  • Provide recommendations on technology tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual learning platforms to enhance training delivery and tracking.

  • Ensure compliance with customer policies and procedures related to training, documentation, and security.

  • Stay current on industry trends in instructional design and geospatial intelligence technologies, leveraging emerging tools and techniques to enhance training effectiveness.

  • Support the development and implementation of train-the-trainer programs to build internal capacity and ensure sustainable training efforts.

  • Monitor and report on key training metrics, including participant engagement, completion rates, and knowledge retention.

  • Gather and identify lessons learned and user feedback for continuous training improvement.  Additionally implementing feedback loops with the software development team for software improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizenship is required per contract.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training & Development, or related field and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in training coordination, instructional design, or related fields, with a focus on GEOINT or similar technical environments.

  • Proven expertise in designing and developing training programs using instructional design methodologies.

  • Extensive experience with eLearning development tools such as Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and virtual training platforms (e.g., Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams).

  • Familiarity with GEOINT systems (e.g., ArcGIS, Google Earth, customer tools) and an understanding of how they support customer missions.

  • Experience in leading training initiatives and managing complex training projects within a dynamic, technical environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging training content.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of GEOINT, geospatial data analysis, and mapping technologies.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and understanding of how to incorporate these into the training development process.

  • Advanced knowledge of geospatial intelligence, geospatial data analysis, and mapping technologies.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile environments.

  • Experience in project management and familiarity with tools such as Confluence, Jira, Microsoft PowerPoint or Project. 

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and interact effectively with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts.
