What You'll Do
  • Analyze customer technical specifications and translate requirements into equipment and process solutions
  • Design and estimate automotive paint shop process equipment, including:

    • Pretreatment (PT/ED)
    • Paint booths
    • Ovens
    • Work decks and enclosures

  • Develop equipment layouts in collaboration with layout engineering
  • Create process equipment schematics and flow diagrams
  • Prepare technical documentation for customer proposals
  • Develop detailed project cost estimates and bid documentation
  • Coordinate estimating activities including drawings and technical specifications
  • Support proposal development and technical clarifications
  • Coordinate with major subcontractors including:

    • Conveyors
    • Paint application systems
    • Paint mix systems
    • Collaborate with global Dürr teams including Germany and Mexico
    • Develop purchased equipment lists and technical specifications
    • Evaluate alternative equipment and supplier solutions
    • Support project handoff and early project execution activities
    • Participate in planning meetings and design reviews
    • Present technical solutions to customers and internal teams

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive paint shop or finishing systems
  • Experience with paint process equipment design and estimation
  • Knowledge of paint shop systems such as PT/ED, booths, ovens, and conveyance
  • Experience working from customer specifications and RFQs
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Experience preparing technical proposals and estimates
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams

Technical Skills
