Boutique Director
Dunhill | Madison Avenue
Reports to: Head of Commercial, USA
Overview:
The Boutique Director will be instrumental in the successful launch and ongoing operation of our new Madison Avenue Flagship. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for driving exceptional commercial success, cultivating an elevated and client-centric customer experience that sets the benchmark for the region, and establishing the flagship as a key global destination for the Maison. The Boutique Director will build, inspire, and manage a high-performing in-store team, embodying the Maison's values and acting as a primary brand ambassador in the USA. The role will be in an exciting new location and encompasses flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by a dynamic luxury retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership & Commercial Performance:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies to achieve and exceed sales targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and profitability goals for the flagship boutique.
    • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities and adapt commercial strategies effectively.
    • Oversee inventory management, visual merchandising, and store presentation to maximize sales potential and uphold the Maison's aesthetic standards.
    • Drive client acquisition, retention, and loyalty through innovative clientelling strategies and an unwavering commitment to service excellence.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop a world-class retail team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Directly manage Assistant Boutique Managers and their defined accountability:
      • Responsible for optimizing sales floor performance, ensuring expert styling advice, leading advanced clientelling initiatives, managing VIP client appointments, and upholding the highest standards of service excellence.
      • Responsible for comprehensive store operations, including stock management, logistics, facilities maintenance, and administrative functions.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement development plans to nurture talent and support career progression within the Maison.
    • Inspire and motivate the team to deliver consistent, elevated customer experiences aligned with the Maison's luxury standards.
  • Client Experience & Service Excellence:
    • Champion a client-centric approach, ensuring every interaction reflects the Maison's commitment to personalized service and unparalleled luxury.
    • Oversee the implementation of best-in-class clientelling practices, fostering strong, lasting relationships with high-value clients and VIPs.
    • Actively engage with clients on the sales floor, leading by example in delivering exceptional service and expertly resolving complex client situations.
    • Monitor customer feedback and implement proactive strategies for continuous improvement in service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Operations & Compliance:
    • Ensure the efficient and compliant operation of the flagship boutique, adhering to all company and Group policies, procedures, and local regulations.
    • Oversee all operational aspects, including sales transactions, cash handling, security protocols, maintenance, and health & safety standards.
    • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Boutique Manager (Operations) to optimize stock control, inventory accuracy, and logistical processes.
    • Manage store budgets, payroll, and expenses effectively to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Brand Ambassadorship & Representation:
    • Serve as a prominent ambassador for the Maison in the USA, representing the brand at key events, industry functions, and within the local luxury community.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with local media, luxury partners, and key influencers to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
    • Ensure the flagship's presentation consistently reflects the Maison's brand image, values, and aesthetic standards.
    • Provide valuable market insights and feedback to the Head of Commercial for USA and global teams to inform strategic decisions. Nurture HQ relationships and support a feedback culture.

Qualifications:
  • Proven progressive retail management experience, with demonstrated leadership within luxury retail, preferably menswear or lifestyle.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a high-volume, flagship, or high-profile boutique.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive commercial success, achieve sales targets, and manage P&L effectively.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership and team-building skills, with extensive experience in recruiting, developing, and motivating diverse teams.
  • Deep understanding of luxury clientelling, customer service best practices, and VIP relationship management coupled with strong operational acumen, including inventory management, visual merchandising, and proficiency with retail systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred.
