Overview

Touro University's Graduate School of Technology is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable instructor to lead our UX/UI Design Principles course. The ideal candidate will introduce essential knowledge about industry standard UX/UI design software, including but not limited to Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and similar tools, enabling students to familiarize themselves with tools commonly used in the design industry. Additionally, you will teach the fundamental design principles underpinning successful UX/UI projects, encompassing information architecture, user interface patterns, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing methodologies. In this role, you will guide students in employing research methods essential for effective UX/UI design, such as user personas, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. You will help them understand the iterative design process, encouraging them to integrate feedback and iterate on their designs to create user experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and effective in meeting user needs.

Responsibilities

Teach a minimum of one graduate-level course (3 credits) on site at our Manhattan campus between the hours of 6pm - 9:15pm.

  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data.
  • Support students' learning goals by:
    • Focusing on student learning outcomes.
    • Considering the needs and abilities of Touro's international student body.
    • Becoming familiar with academic and social support.
    • Making reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences.
    • Maintaining the academic integrity of Touro University.
Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • Possession of an advanced degree (master's degree) in UX/UI design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field.
  • Proven industry experience in UX/UI design or related roles.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Professional Experience: Demonstrated industry experience in UX/UI design or related roles, showcasing practical expertise and understanding of current industry trends.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in industry standard UX/UI design software, such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and similar tools, is essential to effectively instruct students and guide their learning.
  • Design Principles Proficiency: Thorough understanding and mastery of fundamental design principles relevant to UX/UI design, including information architecture, user interface patterns, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Research Methodologies: Profound knowledge and experience in utilizing research methods crucial for effective UX/UI design, including user personas, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
