Note: there are two open positions associated with this job posting.
This position has single point accountability and is under the direction of a General Manager. The Senior Project Manager (SrPM) position is responsible for the management, or the assistance of managing, all phases of project planning and execution to ensure all project success factors are met, including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration. In addition, this position is highly involved in the cost management and budgeting of the project.
This position is for Solar/Battery Project Development (Pre-Commit Gate).
PMC provides functional support such as engineering, project controls, etc. under a matrix approach, and as such, no PMs will report to this position.
The Sr PM serves as the unifying agent providing leadership, management, direction, coordination, and control of the overall project in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of Duke Energy.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following for transmission-connected renewable (solar and battery) projects:
Key support function for Renewables and Storage program/project development. Typical projects are $100 million+ in capital cost. Project portfolio plan indicates dozens of solar and battery projects in the coming years through the decade.
Promote safe and environmentally sound project development supporting construction and operation practices.
Provide desktop and actual on-site review of proposed sites to provide engineering and construction input to site selection process.
Review EPC proposals, especially noting exclusions, clarifications, and deviations from our design criteria and other exhibit requirements.
Support the evaluation and selection of the EPC contractor and subsequent contract and exhibit negotiations. Take lead responsibility for contract exhibits related to design criteria, project controls, project management, safety, QA, and deliverables.
Schedule and lead project commit gate readiness reviews at appropriate time, assigning responsibilities to team members.
Schedule, lead and document periodic renewable development lessons learned meetings. Participate in execution lessons learned meetings and other execution review meetings (weekly and monthly reviews).
Maintain strong and broad level of industry knowledge to support renewable development. Attend conferences and other events to advance knowledge and industry contacts.
Attend bi-weekly solar and battery development calls. Provide updates on projects under construction. Create / Staff / Lead Project Team. Provide leadership, oversight management, delegation, and coordination to the various internal and external organizations that are providing services to the project (development, engineering, project controls, estimating, construction management, supply chain, legal, EHS, QA/QC, operations, communications, regulatory, security, fuels, transmission, etc.).
The PM manages all matrixed members of the team on a daily basis and is responsible for interfacing with functional managers of team members, regarding placement, development and conflict resolution.
Drive the process of project planning including scope definition, estimating, schedule formation and monitoring, cost control measures, procurement/contracting strategies, equipment selection, vendor selection, start-up and commissioning plans, and integration processes. This includes project planning and execution activities like scope definition, detailed design, construction, start-up and commissioning, turnover to operations, and warranty management
Execute projects according to Plan within designed scope, cost and schedule limits. Includes objectives, stakeholders, scope, roles and responsibilities, assumptions and constraints, deliverables, WBS, schedule, external communication, regulatory strategy, procurement strategy, contractor and supplier strategy, resource plan, budget, lessons learned, risk plan, quality plan, safety plan, environmental plan, security plan, integration plan, data management plan, communications and reporting plan, change management, and project close out. Effective Leadership, Development, Mentoring of PM Specialists, PM I's, PM II's, and PC's Roles. Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to other career path members. Share tools, learnings, expertise in manner consistent with corporate leadership and PMCoE Effective Presentation Skills. Ability to create, develop and deliver project / business case presentations to Senior Management / project sponsors
