What is a Biomass Gasification job?

A Biomass Gasification job involves working with technologies that convert organic materials, such as wood, agricultural waste, and other biomass, into syngas (synthetic gas) through a thermal chemical process. Professionals in this field design, operate, and optimize gasification systems to produce cleaner energy for industrial applications. Responsibilities may include research, process monitoring, equipment maintenance, and emissions control. These roles are commonly found in renewable energy companies, research institutions, and government agencies focused on sustainable energy solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Biomass Gasification position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Biomass Gasification role, you need a strong background in chemical engineering or environmental science, with experience in thermochemical conversion processes and renewable energy systems. Familiarity with gasification reactors, process simulation software, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations is typically required, and certifications in hazardous materials handling or process safety can be advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork are essential soft skills for optimizing system performance and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. These competencies are vital to ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable energy production from biomass resources.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Biomass Gasification professional?

In a Biomass Gasification role, you can expect to monitor and operate gasification systems, analyze process data, and troubleshoot technical issues to optimize conversion efficiency. Your day may also involve performing routine maintenance, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards, and overseeing the quality of feedstock materials. About Mote

Mote is developing a first-of-a-kind technology for woody waste biomass that removes CO2 from the air and produces clean hydrogen to help the world meet climate goals, improve air quality, and reduce wildfires. We are developing modular projects based on our innovative and groundbreaking biomass gasification process that also enables permanent carbon sequestration. This includes a pilot-scale Advanced Testing Center in Los Angeles. We are looking for standout individuals who are driven by reversing climate change to join our growing team, to help build our company, and to contribute to our culture.

We are responsible for generating leads, understanding industry trends, cultivating relationships, scoping and applying for grants and other funding opportunities, and negotiating commercial contracts. Moteโ€™s modular gasification technology can be deployed in a variety of applications, utilizing waste biomass feedstocks to produce syngas, hydrogen, CO2, and potentially other energy products. The Business team will work creatively to find niche partnerships for early deployments of the technology. Target customers for early projects include glass manufacturers, hydrogen vehicle and transit fleets, green ammonia manufacturers, fulfillment centers, innovative data centers, and others that the successful candidate may identify.

Depending on the candidateโ€™s experience and skills, the role may include contributions to business strategy and corporate fundraising. Title is negotiable based on experience.

  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ experience with B2B sales or partnerships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
